Bloggers & Cocktails

When I started blogging I did not think that I’d be noticed, appreciated or recognized because really that wasn’t why I started. I started because a really good friend of mine suggested I do it. Last week I got to attend an event where a bunch of bloggers came together and just wanted to learn about each other. I had someone ask me how I went to an event where I didn’t know anyone and I thought to myself that’s a good question- I just didn’t think of it that way. For me this was an event where I saw supportive women who were there not only to share their Instagram profile but also be happy for what you do. The event was to be confident in one another and also encourage everyone to do their best. Long story short it was nice for me to be able to attend an event where I received support but also for me to reinforce to myself why I do my blog- I do my blog for me. Yes I’m happy when someone tells me they read a lame post I threw out there but I’m just happy to be able to call a space my own and share my ideas comfortably. It reinforced to me to always do what you want but never lose sight of why you’re doing it. Follow your dreams and magic can happen!

Now more specifically about the event; I was unsure of what to expect when I bought my ticket to this event. When I got to the event I walked into this beautifully decorated space with a pop-up store, sweets, and tons of gorgeous ladies. I was immediately comfortable with all the positive energy around me. We spent the evening sharing our love for blogging, what motivates our posts and also getting advice from the wonderful Erin from Media Shop Live on the importance of story telling. I can honestly say I left this event smiling ear to ear- and yes the jacket I won from Prairie Couture may have had a little something to do with it. Below are some of the amazing photos captured by Life Dot Style. This event was organized by the amazing Jennifer Kinal and I am thankful that she reached out to me to attend this event. Along with Life Dot Style many other sponsors like Lexus of Edmonton, Prairie Couture, Hatch Wines, Lia Reese Beauty, Indigo, Sheree Glass Artwork, and The Media Shop Live made this evening an unforgettable one. I look forward to more events like this not only to meet other bloggers but also to continue to feel supported and accepted.
